Around seventy Somerset Knights, their families and guests gathered at the beautiful Batch Country House Hotel, near Weston-Super-Mare, on Saturday, 27 June 2026 for the Provincial Knights Templar Black Tie Evening.
During the course of the evening The Right Eminent Provincial Prior Paul Davis, addressed the assembled company with a concise and engaging overview of the history of the Knights Templar Order and the Somerset Province. His reflections offered both context and inspiration providing an interesting insight into the traditions and heritage of the Order; and, pleasingly, demonstrated that history can be both fascinating and concise—a combination always appreciated at dinner and setting the tone for a most enjoyable and memorable evening.
As well as providing an excellent social occasion to round off the Masonic year, the event raised valuable funds for the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group, supporting its life-changing work in the Holy Land.
