The full title of the Order is ‘The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta in England and Wales and its Provinces overseas’ (Affectionately known as K.T.).
To be considered as a candidate for the Knight Templar Order, you must be a Master Mason and Royal Arch Companion and profess the Trinitarian faith.
A newly installed Knight will go through an extremely interesting ceremony, entering as a pilgrim and then undergoing knighthood as a Templar. The later history of the knights is re-enacted in a Malta degree, which traces the history of the Knights of Malta throughout the Mediterranean over a period of some 400 years. Every candidate for the Order of Malta must have first been installed as a Knight of the Order of the Temple.
We are immensely proud of our history and traditions, but we a are clear that the Masonic Order of Knights Templar has no proven links with the Medieval Order
